Must be purchased in quantities of 9 bars (25 lbs.). AIM Solder 1222 63Sn/37Pb Electropure™ is a high-purity alloy that is composed of 63% tin and 37% lead with a melting point of 183°C (361°F). To avoid contaminants and dross that may result in wave soldering defects such as bridging, icycling, and non-wetting, users of bar solder are encouraged to utilize AIM's high-purity and low-drossing bar solder made to the Electropure™ specification. AIM's Electropure™ Bar Solder is processed from virgin metals in a proprietary method that removes dirt and reduces dissolved oxides to a minimum. The result is a lower drossing rate, as well as a decrease of defects per board while using either no clean or water soluble flux chemistries. Electropure™ Bar Solder also offers a lower surface tension than many competitive brands, which results in stronger capillary action. This allows faster barrel fill and better wetting in cases where fine pitch spacing and close or high pin count connectors are used. Electropure™ solder fillets are bright and shiny, and offer fine grain structure and appearance. The result is excellent lead-wetting, superior joint strength, and excellent joint aesthetics. Typical applications are wave soldering and plating where 63Sn/37Pb is primarily used as a coating for corrosion protection, and as a base for soldering.
