The Metcal STDC-102 STDC cartridge is highly durable and designed for high heat transfer, making desoldering on multi-layer boards much easier. Desolder cartridges are available in three temperature ranges (600, 700, and 800 Series). A typical board usually requires a 700 Series tip cartridge. Try a 600 Series tip cartridge first for thermally sensitive components or small single-sided boards. 800 Series tip cartridges can help you do the most stubborn jobs when a higher temperature is required.
